This webinar will examine the distinct powers and duties of mayors and council members serving under Utah’s five and six-member council forms of government, where executive and legislative authority are combined in one council which includes the mayor. Participants will explore how mayors and councils can respect statutory roles, communicate effectively, build productive working relationships, and align policy direction with day-to-day administration. The session will also address practical strategies for preventing and resolving conflicts between the legislative body and executive branch so city officials can serve residents with greater efficiency, professionalism, and public trust.
