With the changes from SB0215. counties and municipalities shall select ambulance service providers through a competitive procurement process to ensure high-quality, reliable emergency medical services (EMS) for their communities. This process involves issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP), where potential providers submit detailed plans outlining their capabilities, staffing, response times, equipment, and compliance with state and local EMS regulations. Proposals are evaluated based on criteria such as service quality, cost-effectiveness, experience, and operational capacity. The selected provider enters into a formal agreement with the local government to deliver emergency and/or interfacility transport services.
